I am a 1st generation New Zealander raised in a traditional Croatian Family. Food and community were a big part of my childhood memories. Growing up my friends always thought the food we ate was weird and the way my parents spoke strange. Times surely have changed. It is not uncommon to walk down the street and hear different languages and find foods from many cultures available everywhere.
I was a very unhealthy person growing up. I suffered from severe colic as a baby, allergies, constant ear infections and relentless rhinitis. To make matters worse I was a bit of a party animal in my teens and early 20’s. By my mid 20’s I was in a bad state and my body had had enough. I felt awful.
I visited a Naturopath around this time who prescribed me herbal medicine, dietary and lifestyle changes and slowly but surely I began to feel amazing. I was hooked. I was so inspired that I decided to become a Naturopath. This was a big career change from the Corporate world that I was working in.
I have 2 amazing and healthy children for which I feel so incredibly grateful. Probably more so because I have experienced recurrent miscarriage and a heartbreaking still birth. While Doctors told me to give up trying to have a baby, I knew I had powerful tools in my Natural Therapies tool belt that made my chances of a healthy baby possible. I am grateful that my stubborness, passion and determination to find a way paid off.
Being a Naturopath is a lot like being a detective. We gather as many clues as we can by getting a good understanding of a persons diet, lifestyle and other issues then combine this with testing to back up what we find. Once we can see what is going on we have many ways to get a person’s health back on track.
My particular interest is in Women’s health. Women are really good at looking after others but terrible at looking after themselves. Our bodies are always giving us clues about what is going on which are prompts for us to make changes. Things like PMS, skin problems, fatigue, weight gain, hair loss, brain fog are all examples of signs that things need to change.
Making changes to your diet and lifestyle is not easy and that is why working with a qualified practitioner can speed up the process and keep you motivated to stay on track. If you are not feeling your best and your health is stopping you from enjoying your life, give me a call or send me an email to see how I can help. I have an empathetic and realistic approach to life and health. I would love to see you in my clinic at Naturopathic Health.
You don’t need to put up with poor health any longer!
